ISSF 10m Air Pistol

This is an air pistol (single shot) match, with the target hung at 10m. It begins with a 15 minute sighting series (unlimited shots) followed by 60 scored shots in 90 minutes. Shooters change their own targets as needed every five shots (this may vary from event to event and venue to venue).

ISSF 25m Standard Pistol

This match is shot with a pistol chambered in .22LR. It starts with a 5 shot, 150 second sighting series. Scored shots proceed as follows:

150 second series: 4 separate 5 shot series in 150 seconds each
20 second series: 4 separate 5 shot series in 20 seconds each
10 second series: 4 separate 5 shot series in 10 seconds each

ISSF 25m Sport Pistol

This match is shot with a pistol chambered in .22LR. Each section of the match is preceeded by a 5 shot signting series.

300 second series: 6 separate 5 shot series in 300 seconds each
Rapid Fire Series: 6 separate 5 shot series. The target turns away for 7 seconds, and faces for 3 seconds. You take one shot per sighting of the target. Shooters must return to the 45 degree ready postion between shots.

ISSF 25m Centre-Fire Pistol

This match is shot with a pistol chambered in .30 calibre or above. Each section of the match is preceeded by a 5 shot signting series.

300 second series: 6 separate 5 shot series in 300 seconds each
Rapid Fire Series: 6 separate 5 shot series. The target turns away for 7 seconds, and faces for 3 seconds. You take one shot per sighting of the target. Shooters must return to the 45 degree ready postion between shots.

ISSF 25m Rapid Fire Pistol (Olympic Rapid Fire)

This match is shot with a pistol chambered in .22LR. The match is shot down range, with each athlete being given 5 targets, 75cm apart. The match is divided into two separate identical sections, each preceded by a 5 shot sighting series. In each series, the athlete begins in the 45 degree ready position, and puts one shot on each target.

Series 1: 5 shots in 8 seconds (repeated twice)
Series 2: 5 shots in 6 seconds (repeated twice)
Series 3: 5 shots in 4 seconds (repeated twice)

ISSF 50m Pistol

This is shot with a single shot pistol chanbered in .22LR (a pistol with a magazine can be substituted, so long as only 1 cartridge is loaded at a time), with the target hung at 50m. It begins with a 15 minute sighting series (unlimited shots) followed by 60 scored shots in 105 minutes. Shooters change their own targets as needed every fiifteen shots.

Canadian 1800

This is an aggregate of several NRA style matches. It is composed of a Slow Fire Match, the National Match Course, a Timed Fire Match, and a Rapid Fire Match.

Slow Fire Match: Target at 50yd, 10 shots in 10 minutes (repeated twice)
Timed Fire Match: Target at 25yd, 5 shots in 20 seconds (repeated 4 times)
Rapid Fire Match: Target at 25yd, 5 shots in 10 seconds (repeated 4 times)
National Match Course: One Slow Fire Target, One Timed Fire Target, One Rapid Fire Target (total of 30 shots)

The whole series is shot once with a pistol in .22LR (90 shots) and again with a centre-fire pistol in .32 calibre or above (90 shots) for a total of 180 shots, scored out of 1800 – hence the name.

Ambitious shooters can shoot the series again with a pistol in .45ACP as well to make a 2700 match.

CISM Rapid Fire

Also known as Military Rapid Fire, this match from the International Military Sports Council uses a single ISSF 25m Rapid Fire Target. Men compete with a centre-fire pistol chambered in .30 calibre or above, women compete with a pistol chambered in .22LR.

10 second series: 4 separate 5 shot series in 10 seconds each
8 second series: 4 separate 5 shot series in 8 seconds each
6 second series: 4 separate 5 shot series in 6 seconds each
